Indoor Track Kicks Off Season at ISU

NORMAL, Ill.-- The Greenville College Indoor Track team kicked off their season with a meet at Illinois State University, where Josh Kuusisto set a new school record.

Taylor Brunner, a junior from Oreana, Ill., placed in 3 events; 6th in 600 meter hurdles, 9tn in shot put, and 3rd in high jump. Brunner's third place finish in high jump came after she jumped 1.45 meters. She placed highest for GC in shot put as well. Panther throwers, Maggie McMurtrey, Ali Potthast, Haley Fahnstrom, and Abby Pierce also competed in their respecitive events.

On the men's side, Josh Kuusisto had an impressive performace in weight throwing. His distance of 17.48 meters not only earned him 3rd place at the meet, but was the 2nd best throw of all NCAA Division III and set a new Greenville College record. Kuusisto, a junior from Show Low, Ariz., beat the current GC record of 16.92 meters, which was set in 2006. Josh Garcia, Darnez Stokes, and KC Gilbert also competed in the meet.

The Panthers will travel to Charleston, Ill. on Saturday, Jan. 19 to compete at the EIU Mega Meet.
