Men's Basketball Runs Away from Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill.---The men's basketball team got back on the winning track with a dominating 100-48 win over SLIAC conference foe Blackburn College.

The Panthers were led by four players in double figures with Alex Mumphard leading the way with a game high 22.  Close behind was Anthony Metzler with 18 and Austin Potts and Todd Albertson with 13 and 10.  Tevin Rollins led the panthers on the glass with eight and Albertson followed with seven.

Greenville used an impressive second half to get to the century point mark outscoring Blackburn by 32 in the second half.

The win saw Greenville improve to 2-2 in SLIAC competition and 7-5 on the season.  The men have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Western Illinois for a 7 p.m. tip-off time tomorrow night.

Women's Basketball Holds on Against Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team faced off versus conference opponent Blackburn College Tuesday night and came away victorious 59-47.  It was very much a team effort as the Lady Panthers had three players in double figures. 

Ieisha Adams led Greenville with 14 and Laura Hobbie and Kayla Hyde with 12 and 11 points.  Greenville dominated the boards out rebounding Blackburn by 20 with Coley Baker leading the charge with an impressive 17.

Not only was Baker dominating on the glass, she also had eight blocked shots falling two short of an unique double double.

The win saw Greenville improve to 3-1 in SLIAC competition and 7-5 for the season.  Next up is Eureka College this Saturday with a 1 p.m. tip-off time.

Lady Panther Volleyball Finishes Regular Season Strong, Taking Blackburn 3-0

CARLINVILLE, Ill.-- The GC Volleyball team swept Blackburn 3-0 to continue their SLIAC domination with a Conference record of 15-1.

The Panthers won the sets with scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-16, to earn the three set sweep. This marks the second time this season that Greenville has beaten Blackburn in just three sets, as the team had the same result on October 6 when the two teams met in Greenville.

Tricia Gall came up big for GC, making 7 kills and ending the match with a .462 kill percentage. Corinne Coon had 7 kills as well and added a solo block for the Panthers. Joelle Scholten also had an impressive performance, recording 6 kills, two service aces, and 6 digs. Ansley DeVrieze also earned 6 kills and had one service ace in the match. Ellen Lueking and Hannah Groves led the team in assists, with 16 and 15 respectively, and Jamie Schollenbruch added 12 digs for GC.

This game brings the team's regular season to a close. The women ended the season with a record of 28-8 (15-1 SLIAC). They will play again Nov. 3 in the SLIAC Semifinals at 2:00 p.m. as they take on No. 4 seed, Principia, at home.
