Indoor Men's Track and Field Posts Pair of Fourth Place Marks at Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Weight throw partiipant Josh Kuusisto and sprinter Ryan St. Hill were members of the men's track and field to place fourth at the Eastern Illinois John Craft Invitational on Saturday.

Kuusisto tossed the weight 16.79 meters (55-1) in his fourth place performance.

Ryan St. Hill was third among the field in the 60-meter dash preliminaries as he posted a time of 7.12 seconds.  He returned in the finals to finish in 7.14 seconds and place fourth overall.

Adding sixth place marks for Greenville were Bobby Williams in the long jump (6.11 meters, 20-0.50) and Anthony Everett in the 60-meter hurdles (8.93 seconds).

Vernon Gee leapt 6.03 meters (19-9.50) in his seventh place long jump effort.

The men's track and field team returns to action Saturday at Olivet Nazarene.

Men's Basketball Outpaced by NCAA Division I Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. -- The Greenville men's basketball team traveled to NCAA Division I Western Illinois on Wednesday night and returned with a 95-48 loss to the Leathernecks.  Junior MarQuel Jones led the Panthers with a team-high 15 points.

Greenville fell behind early as Western led 21-1 just eight minutes into the game.  The score was 48-20 at the half, and Western outscored Greenville 47-28 in the second half.

Anthony Metzler posted five rebounds in the defeat, and Alex Mumphard collected three assists and two steals.

Western improved to 13-3 with the win while Greenville fell to 7-6.  The Panthers host Eureka on Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at Eastern Illinois

Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- A fourth place finish by high jumper Taylor Brunner was among the highlights for the women's track and field team at the Eastern Illinois John Craft Invitational on Saturday.

Brunner completed a high jump of 1.5 meters (4-11) to take the fourth position.  Brunner also competed in the long jump where she produced a mark of 4.89 meters (16-0.5) to capture fifth place and followed that with a 200-meter dash time of 30.18 seconds to finish eighth. 

Also competing in the long jump was Michaela Harris who finished sixth (4.54m, 14-10.75).

Posting a seventh place mark was Maggie McMurtrey who threw the weight 14.67 meters (48-1.75).

The Lady Panthers return to action Saturday at Olivet Nazarene.
