Men's Basketball Topped by Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College men's basketball team encountered defeat for the first time this season, falling to Webster University 91-61.  Greenville was led by MarQuel Jones who scored 21 points.  Daniel Anderson led the Panthers in rebounding with seven.

GC went 9-9 from the free throw line, but only 6-31 from three-point territory. MarQuel accounted for 5 rebounds and 3 assist in addition to his impressive 21 points.

Webster outscored the Panthers 51-22 in the second half, to put the game away.

Leading the way for Webster was Cody Bradfisch who scored 19 points.  Both Roman Robinson and Aaron Griffin posted double doubles.  Robinson scored 17 points and added 12 rebounds, while Griffin contributed 17 points and 14 rebounds of his own.

With the win, Webster improved to 4-2 (2-0 SLIAC), and Greenville fell to 5-1 (1-1 SLIAC). The Panthers will take on St. Louis Christian at 7:00pm on Wednesday, Dec. 5 in hopes of rebounding from this tough SLIAC loss.

Men's Soccer Ties Webster 2-2

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Greenville Men's Soccer team played Webster University to a 2-2 tie with both teams having many opportunities to score throughout the game.

Goals were scored for GC by Dusty Knoll, in the 33rd minute, and Sean McQuillan, with an assist by Nathan Mayberry, in the 66th minute. Webster's Clint Carder and Agustin Villalba got the goals for Webster in the 17th and 70th minutes, respectively.

The game went into two overtime periods of 10 minutes each, but neither team could capitalize on their opportunities so the final score remained a 2-2 tie.

Greenville recorded 19 shots while Webster only had 12 in the game. GC keeper, Thomas Crown, made 3 saves for the Panthers.

This tie brings the men's record to 9-5-3 (4-0-3 SLIAC). The Panthers will play again on Monday, Oct. 29 as they travel to Eureka to take on the Red Devils.

Lady Panther Volleyball Falls to Webster in Championship

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The GC Women's Volleyball team could not top Webster and lost 3-0 in the SLIAC Championship game.

The Panthers lost in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-18.

Nicole Schaffer led the Panthers offensively with 10 kills and Corinne Coon added 7 kills for Greenville. Hannah Groves had 15 assists for GC and Ellen Lueking recorded 10. Tricia Gall and Ansley DeVrieze each were credited with a block in the match, and Jamie Schollenbruch had 15 digs for the home team.
