Lady Panther Basketball Splits Games in Tip-Off Classic

FULTON, Mo.-- The GC women lost to Rhodes College, but redeemed themselves with a win over Hendrix in the Westminster Tip-Off Classic.

The first game proved to be a tough one for Greenville, with the women falling 46-73 in their first regular season game. They allowed the loss to fuel their fire and came ready to play the next day, defeating Hendrix 86-50 to bring home a win.

In their first game of the weekend, GC lost 46-73 but Coach Mulholland said the score did not accuractely reflect the effort the women gave.

"We played well against a very good team," Coach Mulholland said. "They got us the first half but we played better in the second half and I am prod of the team."

Ieisha Adams led the team in scoring, with 13 points total in the game. GC recorded 36 rebounds, with Coley Baker getting 6 and Emily Gundy and Laura Hobbie each adding 5. The team had a 76% free throw average.

In their second game of the tournament, he Panthers had a team average of 83.3% in free throws and grabbed 49 rebounds. Baker and Hobbie led GC in scoring on Saturday, both recording 16 points in the game. Baker also was credited with 14 rebounds and went 8 for 8 in free throws. Adams was impressive in the second game as well, scoring five out of her six field goal attempts and recording 14 points for the Panthers.
